What is TRON? TRON was conceived in 1984 by Dr. Ken Sakamura of the University of Tokyo. He proposed new computer operating system architecture, deriving the name "TRON" from "The Real-time Operating system Nucleus." Dr. Sakamura called on the technical industry and academia to collaborate on the development of the TRON concept, as well as the introduction of the standard into the computing market. As seen in the TRON Road Map, the TRON Project has come a long way, completing stage 1 and stage 2, and is now moving into the final stage, which includes fulfilling the ultimate vision of a "computing everywhere" environment. Introducing the TRON Association The TRON Association was established in March 1988 as the core organization entrusted with carrying out the TRON Project. The work of the Association covers a broad range that includes spreading awareness of TRON and its technologies, conducting surveys and market research, creating and promoting adoption of standard specifications, and overseeing conformance testing. Through services like these, the Association is aiming to create new computer architectures and a computer culture, contributing to the sound development of an information-rich society and helping to spur industrial and economic growth worldwide. |
